Club News

Similar to other sports, COVID regulations had a major effect on U.K. bowling activities this past year. However this didn’t stop Beccles Town Bowls Club Ladies from enjoying their favourite game in a safe outdoor environment.

In fact recently, a Beccles Town Bowls Ladies Team comprising (L to R) Elaine Curtis, Maureen Wright, Ann Oliver and Ruth Swarbrick progressed to the County Final of the Bowls England Senior Fours at the Rookery Club in Stowmarket. The ladies played well against a strong team from the Borough of Eye who go on to represent the County at the National Final at Leamington Spa later this month.

Following this success, a combined team of ladies from the Beccles Town and Thurlton Clubs contested the final of the Ladies Top Club Competition against Lowestoft Rail. To have reached the final at the first attempt was an enjoyable experience for all and particularly rewarding for the newer bowlers who hadn’t previously played at this level. Lowestoft came away with the winner’s trophy after a closely fought game and the combined team received the runners up shield.

The Beccles Town Bowls Club is always on the lookout for new members to participate in enjoying and experiencing a friendly game in pleasant surroundings.

Liam, Alistair, Danny and Ian,

On behalf of the Club I just thought I'd say congratulations to you on your latest success on becoming Suffolk County Fours winners and reaching the BE National Finals at Leamington Spa later this month.

What a wonderful achievement for you personally and also for our Club. I'm sure that your names are well known and revered by everyone who comes up against you. But your success also raises the profile of the Club, not just throughout the County but Nationally and demonstrates the quality and depth of our members and our ability to compete against much larger clubs.

I've no doubt you will play well at Leamington.

Well done and enjoy the game.
